LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y., July 5, 2001 - Providing consumers,
electrical contractors and MRO's with replacement products
that are durable and easy to install, Cooper Wiring Devices
introduces two new lines of 15 and 20 Amp Nylon Plugs
and Connectors. Designed to make locating and distinguishing
different wiring sources quick and easy, Cooper Wiring
Device's 15 amp, 125 volt, High Visibility Nylon Plugs
and Connectors are a logical choice for heavily trafficked
job sites, or around the home. The company's new 15 and
20 Amp Commercial Straight Blade and Locking designs are
available in 125, 250 and 277 volt ratings and are ideal
for replacing old or damaged plugs and connectors.
"Installing or replacing plugs and connectors can be a
tedious task for homeowners, electricians or contractors
on a job site," says Art Hansen, plug and connector product
manager, Cooper Wiring Devices. "Our new, easy-to-install,
high visibility and replacement straight and locking blade
nylon plugs and connectors are a better solution due to
our unique Autogrip™ design. The fluorescent yellow, green
and orange colors on the high visibility line are easy
to locate in low visibility areas, and provide an easy
way to distinguish one line from another, or to color
code critical uses."
Constructed of impact- and chemical-resistant nylon, Cooper's
plugs and connectors can withstand the strains of any
commercial setting. Both lines feature smooth, tapered
body cases that eliminate snagging and provide a comfortable
feel and grip for the user. Wire installation is simplified
by the inclusion of the company's exclusive Autogrip design.
This design utilizes plastic fingers, which automatically
close around the cable as the plug is attached, providing
a solid strain relief clamp and reducing installation
time. Other benefits that speed up installation include
tapered, individual wire pockets that guide stranded wire
into the contact area and terminal screws that are backed
out.
For protection against moisture, dirt, metal chips and
other debris, the High Visibility Plugs and Connectors
feature a Neoprene gasket, which seals the wiring chamber.
These models are available in three easy-to-see colors:
fluorescent green, fluorescent orange and fluorescent
yellow. "High visibility plugs and connectors ensure safety,
since they are easy to locate in the middle of a job site
and allow for color coding of critical applications,"
adds Hansen.
Cooper Wiring Devices 3-wire, Plugs and Connectors meet
all UL 498 requirements. The new Commercial Grade Nylon
Plugs and Connectors are available in straight blade configurations
for 15 and 20 amp applications, as well as 15 amp locking
configurations.
