Long Island City, New York, August 7, 2003 – The first
new and significant downtown Philadelphia residential
project to be built in the past 15 years - a 45-storey
building of St. James Associates Joint Venture - is relying
on Cooper Wiring Devices' (CWD) line of Structured Wiring
Networks to give its tenants the most up-to-date electronic
conveniences.
Offering combined voice, data, audio and video connections
for the 306 luxury apartments of "The St. James", located
at 8th and Walnut Streets -- to be fully completed by
March 2004 - the key Cooper products is a highly sophisticated
structured wiring distribution system consisting of: 18-inch
Little Brother enclosures, recessed AC power accessories,
telephone master hubs, data termination hubs, as well
as CATV combination and splitter hubs that provide customized
in-the-wall wiring for each individual residence per EIA-TIA
standards.
"These networks," says Bob Pidgeon, CWD's Product Manager
for Communications Premise Wiring Products, "give tenants
the optimum convenience and flexibility needed to integrate
and distribute all kinds of electronic content. The growing
sophistication of consumers and their need for flexibility
in the use of the Internet, multiple PCs, printers and
scanners and telephones and faxes in the home as well
as the mounting concern for security systems and the need
to access to multi-faceted, multi-room home entertainment
systems are met perfectly by these wiring networks."
CWD is also supplying the full range of specified electrical
receptacles, switches including its new 7500 Series Decorator
Switches, utility power outlets and wall plates for this
trend-setting project. The project will also incorporate
a landmark bank building, its interior to be converted
to retail, office and restaurant space. This 2-storey
circa 1830 Philadelphia Saving Funds Society's granite
and brick exterior will be preserved, according to L.
F. Driscoll Company, construction manager on the design/build
"The St. James".
Specifying the Cooper products for this large project
is construction and electrical contractor Larry C. McCrae,
Inc. (LCMI), and electrical distributor Franklin Electric
Company. LCMI believes the various structured wiring network
products of Cooper present a more "contractor-friendly"
solution. The panel that provides ample space for easier,
faster installations, with a clean look and modular-style
components, is perfectly suited for this residential installation.
LCM employs IBEW local Union 98 electricians / telecommunication
technicians trained and certified for several system networks.
Cooper Wiring Devices has performed on-site training /
certification sessions to assure full warranty.
